Cold Water

All of the water is cold around here right now, but some is melt off and that makes it very cold. Unfortunately this slows down the fishes' feeding and makes luring them with a fly difficult. I did not do very well yesterday on the two streams I tried. Although the water was clear on the first and I saw some small fish, none were on the move. Perhaps it will be a while before there is a lot of action, after all there is still tons of snow to be melted.

  1. Your spot on your assessment.
I was out yesterday for a couple of hours and only had one hit. Water temp was 38 degrees.

    1. Of course your stream isn't open right now anyway. I can't wait to see if you get anything good.

What a difference a region makes, here yesterday on my local lake the water temp was 65; looking forward to a report from that stream. Thanks for sharing

    1. You are killing me! By the time our ponds get that warm there will be leaves on the trees.

  4. The snow melt will be done probably by the end of next week (although today is a little setback), so it won't be long before the blog is filled with those wild jewels!
