Cold Spring Weather

Snow yesterday. Blistering wind today. I had to do some fishing. I went out today to tempt bluegill with the fly and had some luck. But that wasn't the best part.

On the way home I decided to stop and poke around in a mineralogical rich area. After a winter as bad as this a lot of rock is often fractured or freshly exposed. The area of clay and sand you see bellow is a small pocket of quartz crystals. It was about the size of an orange and had some very nice specimens in it.

With temperatures rising again I will be out this weekend. Some streamer fishing is going to go down, and possibly a trip for suckers.

  1. Nice find. That pocket looks good, you may find more. The panfish has great color and ready for Spring.

    1. Except that this pocket was about 5 inches above a spot I had scraped around in before!
