  2. Rowan,
When going by Lake Pocotopaug yesterday, I saw some
diehard (wacko?) guy fishing from a kayak. You?

    1. I wish. Not wacko, fishing kayaks are extremely stable and easy to maneuver. Guy probably knew exactly what he was doing.

  3. Hi! Lots of great info thanks.

I'm a Florida transplant trying to figure out how to catch these small fish here any wise words would be greatly appreciated. ( I'm in Monroe and have a creek similar to your Jan 2017 pics within walking distance, but my smallest setup is a 5 wt and the smallest fly I've coasted is probably a clouser.

    Thanks!

  7. Hello Rowan.. Thanks for posting the NFC logo/link. We are moving forward with a CT NFC chapter. We have 8 people ready to go and one awaiting vetting. There's room for a few more if you are interested. I am also looking for some CT native fish and habitat pics for the CT webpage banner and gellery. Can you help?

  10. I recently had the opportunity to go on a guided trip with Rowan to explore a smaller local river in central CT. I've been a number of guided trips before in the past, and want to highlight that Rowan is among the most knowledgeable guides I've ever met. His experience belies his youth in a way that's hard to fathom, and there is not a topic related to fishing, herpetology, geology and meteorology that he didn't have some well of knowledge. I left with a greater appreciation for the river we were fishing, and the confidence to fish other rivers with some new techniques. If you have the time a trip with him is well worth it. I will definitely be booking another trip in the near future, especially to take advantage of his working knowledge of the many less accessible native fisheries in CT and MA. Thanks again, Rowan.

  11. I spent a day and a half with Rowan last week fishing some of his favorite wild brown trout streams. I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable and considerate guide. He encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone even when he knew I was struggling. He did that with a sense of humility and encouragement. If you have the opportunity to book a trip with him you are in good hands. We were able to bring several fish to the net, and in the process I learned a little more about myself.
    Thanks again Rowan.
