I went out this evening to a nearby stream I had yet to examine. It was a typical thin blue line, part of which runs through a meadow. It turns out this stream's Native Brookies are already nearly complete spawning. Every sexually mature fish was either on a redd or spawned out. I caught plenty of little yearling fish, a tribute to the health of the stream. The meadow portion was loaded with these. I also caught one skinny spawned out female.

The brooky is just too the right of the middle branch. |
I was out yesterday and saw very similar results.
ReplyDeleteTypical of this time of year. It is just fun to watch the proceeding.
DeleteThat part thru the meadow nearly dissapears. Cool. I see the fish in the photo. Are you going to the Fly Tying Symposium in NJ?
ReplyDeleteIt seems to spread out into little rivulets, because it is bigger both above and bellow. I'd like to go, but probably won't get the chance.
