Playing Hooky for Trout

It's better than the reasons most teens play hooky, right?

Today, with my mother's permission of course, I skipped school and fished the Salmon with David Gallipoli. We crushed them. He caught some on streamers, some on dries, and one on a nymph, while I stuck to the big heavy stuff. Articulated streamers moved some beasts today. In the morning I caught some brookies and a bass, and I lost a HUGE tiger trout that will stick in my mind for  long while. As the day wore on it got warmer and brighter and the fishing got slower, but was by no means bad or even mediocre. Late in the trip I took a big Rainbow, he rose in a slick to meet the streamer and tore down through the currant. We had such a good time we plan to go back for the evening rise tonight.

  2. Great outing! I almost did the same myself today because I knew there wasn't hardly anything planned for today in any of my classes, but for some reason I never did. Guess there's always next week haha

    1. Thanks! It needs to be a really special day in order for it to be a hooky day.

  3. Way to go mom! She knows that education has many platforms. What a great trip and that bow was a beaut. The river looks great. Nothing better than fishing with a good companion, on a great day, with the fish hungry.
Tie, fish, write and photo on...
