Multi-Species Fishing: How Many can you Catch in One Day

One day, three watersheds, 13 species of fish.

Lepomis gibbosus

Lepomis macrochirus

Notropis hudsonius

Fundulus diaphanus

Rhinichthys atratulus

Salvelinus fontinalis

Semotilus corporalis

 Notemigonus crysoleucas

Lepomis auritus

Morone americana

Perca flavescens

Ambloplites rupestris

Micropterus salmoides
Species I saw during this day of fishing that I would not have hesitated to shoot with intent to kill: common merganser, Mergus merganser. Why? These birds litereally destroyed a whole stretch of a brook trout stream, there were dead fish littered all over the place. I swear they just kill stuff for fun.

Things  wouldn't want to shoot:

How many species have you caught in one day?

  1. WOW, that's exciting. I don't understand why these birds do this! That crab was trying to tell you about it. That was a good day!
Tie, fish, write and photo on...

Some of the sunfish are confusing.

    1. Leo Sheng wrote a pretty good post on is blog about sunfish ID a while back, it should be pretty easy to find and it'll help you out big time.

    2. Leo is one of my favourites!
I mention him in my own journal.
His blog did help. But they are still confusing--especially if you don't have a camera on you, haha.
The next question: will Leo give fly fishing a try this year?
