No tourists there and the cutties were hungry.
Bear spray is $50. You won't need it, yet it's still the best $50 you'll spend.
I virtually always carry bear spray while in the woods, no matter what state I'm in.
Have never owned bear spray in the East and never thought to. Maybe I should, but I haven't considered black bears a real issue.
Here I'm far more concerned about people than I am bears. But I've also had 2 very sketchy mountain lion encounters so it isn't fully for protection against Meth heads or drunks either.
