Back on The Natives

After quit a bit of warm water fishing, particularly with spinning gear, it was time to get back to the small streams and wild brook trout. It was a beautiful day today, and leaves are showing more and more I chose a nearby stream and fished near it's headwaters. The only good reason for this is that the rest is on private property. This stream is truly a wonder, as it was once a garbage filled rut that even bullheads would avoid. Over the past 20 years it has made a dramatic transformation without any human intervention other then less polluting and littering. Natives moved back in from far downstream, and the population is thriving.

Today I fished Royals and had a darn fun time. The fish in that brook don't get all that big but are gorgeous as just about any native is.

On the way home I stopped at a small mill pond and landed a few green sunfish on the same fly the brookies were eating.
