When I got home today I heard a commotion and looked to where the sounds were coming from. A couple of crows were harassing a big old red tailed hawk. He just shrugged them off in annoyance and sure enough they became bored and moved on. I ran in to get my camera and luckily enough he was still in the same spot.
Splendid Serendipity !

Thank you.
DeleteQuestion, is that a red tail, or a broad shouldered hawk? They are amazing pictures - I love on the third one seeing the foot and talon coming over that branch... Would not pay to be a mouse or squirrel in his field of view would it!
ReplyDeleteThank you,
DeleteI assume you mean broad winged, and having taken a better look I think that's what it is.
That's correct, broad winged! I always want to say broad shouldered :)..Very similar looking birds... One tried to get the chickens in our coop a couple years ago, it was hysterical watching it try to figure out how to get in - it couldnt though and eventually it went on it's way. Very cool birds.
