Still on Dries

There are some spots where the panfish are still eating dries. That little millpond that is a couple hundred yards from home is still fishing very well with dries. To my surprise the redbreast sunfish are also still hanging out in the stream that gives the pond it's water. Even in a fairly heavy currant they were coming up for dries!

The Crazy Shrimp was also productive, but the only way I could get fish to take it was with a very gentle twitch and using dapping to get the fly to the exact right spots. It was fun to watch the goofy little sunfish sneak up on the fly as it jigged near their hideout.

  1. That sounds like fun. I have always admired the fight and never give up attitude of a sunfish.

  2. Being able to do that this time of year is really remarkable. Panfish and fun is a common thread I share with you!
