The Wait is Excruciating!

While we get more snow and a blast of bone cold arctic air I sit in wait. It shouldn't be long now. If we are luck the ice will clear out before march, I have yet to catch a fish this month. I feel that warmth is coming though. There are more songbirds about than usually are present this time of year, and as I type the sun has broken out and is filtering through my window. Yes, it won't be long now. In two or three weeks I may be sitting stream side holding my fly rod and trying to keep my hands thawed out after releasing a gorgeous little wild jewel. One can only hope.

I envy you guys that live in the east, with all the beautiful streams and all those colorful brook trout. The closet we can get here in Alabama to trout is our local tailrace; at least we do have rainbow. Hope you survive the brutal weather you are experimenting there. Thanks for sharing

    1. Than you,
At least you have a bunch of wildly colorful panfish and bass in your small streams. Those are certainly worth attention.

  2. Awesome pics. Looks like the cold isn't letting up anytime soon, but I hope you are right! RI doesn't have year round fisheries, so I can't fish until April anyway, unless I make a trip out to CT. I don't mind all this snow, however, as it will keep the streams filled with cool water for a while.

    1. Trust me, com march it will be more comfortable outdoors.
What about the sound/ocean? The early season stripers can be fun.
