Early Morning Carp on the Lake

Before I went out on the trail this morning to hunt for wild brook trout, I took a brief walk around the lake to see if I could find some feeding carp. For a little while I walked and I found nothing. Then, under a nice shade tree I saw a surface disturbance. There it was, a solitary carp, feeding on insects in the cracks of the boulders. The only feeding carp I would see in a mile of shoreline. Would it take my simple little black carp woolly bugger? I was very close to the fish, so all I needed to do was drop it in front of it. I watched the carp suck it in and I set the hook. It all went according to plan. The fish dumped into the backing on three consecutive runs and gave me a good workout, but it came to hand with ease and didn't do the close combat type battle most carp to when you get them at rod length. Not a huge fish, but not a bad one to start the lake carp season on. I'll call it low teens, say 13 lbs.
