Today was a day for wild things. I did some hiking, some brook trout stalking, and just had some just general outdoor enjoyment. The flies I used today were the pink worm, the Humpy, and the BT Hair Tail (thanks Alan, it's a good fly). They each caught fish. Most were not in the mood for photography and frankly neither was I. I saw some dear, some red tailed hawks, and I even heard some wood frogs in a vernal pool. It's spring, they said.

On part of the hike I passed a ledge and found this boulder full of garnet. Also, a rare water soluble mineral.

Sounds like you had a great overall day out there with a little of everything. Spring is definitely here! What is the BT Hair Tail fly?
ReplyDeleteCheck one of the recent posts on Small Stream Reflections, I think it was a post about Appalachian brook trout flies.
DeleteLooks like your stream cleared up. The one we fished yesterday was a tad off color.
ReplyDeleteIt's getting better though.
Thanks,
DeleteI was a bit worried on the trip out there. There isn't all that much snow left to melt.

ReplyDeleteAwesome looking area, I know you will be back soon to fish those streams. Sometimes one only needs spectacular images to say it all and these certainly did!! Thanks for sharing
Thank you, glad you enjoyed them!
