I love fishing hatches of big mayflies: green drakes, isonychia, march browns, and even the occasionally hexagenia on the Salmon River. It's a bass deal there, with fantastic evening hatches of big bugs on August nights.

Looks like the real thing, right?
So fun to toss giant Hex's. Mayflies nearly as big as dragon flies are just to cool not to fish. I like your version or a Hex - fun extended body tie!
ReplyDeleteI love extended bodies, even for smaller mayflies. If you tie in the hackle right the impression is a very realistic imitation for some low riding species.
DeleteWOW... that is a great tie. Your secret is safe with me.
ReplyDelete10 degrees this morning, ugh. Windy and lake effect.
Tie on...
Similar here but colder with random flurries. I haven't told anyone my secrets yet!
