Mediocre. Where are all the fish?

It's another Essex weekend, and this time I started the fishing in a new spot. This deep pool bellow a dam should have had some big fish. Maybe it does. All I caught or saw were little bluegills.

I fished at the koi pond for a little while, but that did not get the results I was looking for. Some small bass and pumpkinseeds made me happy but not excited.

Then I went salty. I tried a few spots at the mouth of the river that can be good for stripers and blues on the fly, but today was bot one of those times. Not even the bait guys were catching. Plus it was very cold, rainy, and windy. No fun. Tomorrow is supposed to be very rainy which kind of ruins the plan to go up to the Farmington. I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow. I wish I had fished on Friday while it was nice.

  1. That's just the way it goes for fishing. I would say your average is very good, so a non fish day is bound to happen at times. As you well know, water, weather and slugish fish can add up to blaaah.
Tie, fish, write and photo on...

    1. My average is good mostly because I fish every day. There were fish, but considering the low pressure and cloudy conditions this should have been a fantastic day.

Sometimes an outing can result in working on the casting skills, which is a good thing.
