What an Evening!

I spent the evening once again throwing big articulated streamers on the Salmon River. I got the first few smallmouth of the year and plenty of nice trout. In one pool I moved a huge brooky, and in a plunge I brought up a big brown. I have these fishes' numbers now, and will be back to get them another day.
There were a few spots that were just on. One particular pool yielded five fish. A certain stretch of pocket water produced some good browns and rainbows. In general, it was just a good evening.

What a trip, those bronze backs are really awesome on the fly. Amazing how you got those rainbow, brook and browns to stay still long enough to get the shot. Beautiful area you were fishing. Thanks for sharing a great post.

    1. Thank you,
Smallmouth are one of my favorites. These fish stood still for only a few seconds, and most wouldn't let me take there picture.

  2. I hope that big brown and the big brookie will be still waiting for you next time! One of those brookies looks like he adapted pretty well to the river since his stocking as his colors are actually pretty cool--definitely not the average stocker.

    1. Stocked brookies seem not to have as much fin damage and their colors are a little more vibrant. I think they avoid scraping the concrete.
