Good News From New York

I discovered recently, on a fellow bloggers post, (Micheal Curry, At Last to Wade the River) that it appears the good governor of New York State has banned fracking. For those of you who aren't aware, fracking is a practice of natural gas extraction that could have negative repercussions for trout streams and the anglers that fish them. In New York the Delaware was at risk, probably the best wild trout stream in the East. Hopefully other state, particularly my birth state of Pennsylvania, will follow New York's example, and hopefully New York will go all the way through with this.

  1. Unfortunitly our state is fracking and the outcome will effect all water. We have yet to understand all the problems that coal mining has created and now fracking is an even bigger problem. Our goverment only cares about money and jobs. You know what the oil boom did to the area around Franklin. Our water supplier Beaver Run Dam has many wells on the shores. We are going to be drinking ourselves to death. We can only hope that your generation can do something!

    1. Not to be pessimistic but video games and cellphones are destroying any chances of that. The only hope is to teach the younger generations to enjoy the woods.
