The Fish We Were Looking For

Yesterday was the final day of the trip for Alessandro, and Nunzio and I were not letting him leave without getting a really nice striper on fly. All it took was one cast.

That left us with some time to go to far more picturesque and historic locations. We moved east quite a bit and found some fish in one of my favorite places in the world, which shall remain unnamed.

I actually ended up adding a new fly tackle species to my list. I caught two large porgies in a deep cut!

We also found some stripers working back and forth in the wash in front of a muscle bar. That gave Alessandro a shot at some more big fish. Unfortunately, the largest made off with only a sore lip, it was a very big fish but the hook just did not hold.

What a relief. CT has been difficult this spring striper wise. Some spots have produced well, others have been dead. What happens one day may not happen under the same conditions the next. I'm glad we pulled it off at the end.

  1. Work well done. As you well know, fishing is about knowledge and chance. Moving around to find the fish is part of the sport. You all caught some nice rewards.
Tie, fish, write and photo on...

    1. 1. We didn't all catch fish. 2. The ONLY reason I caught fish was that having a second angler work the water allowed us to more quickly find the fish and the most productive methods. GUIDES SHOULD NOT FISH WITH THEIR CLIENTS!
