A crippled drake

Smallmouth bass trip on the Salmon River

A friend and I camped on the lower stretch of the salmon river. This time of year the trout fishing has died down and the smallmouth are hitting very well, so I target them on poppers and wolly buggers. We had some good success with larger bass, and caught plenty of fresh young fish.

A good smallmouth caught subsurface.

I caught this one on top at night.
We caught some decent largemouth too.
This is the average size that we caught, around 10in.

The Monster Fallfish of the Blackledge River

Recently I fished the Blackledge for trout and smallmouth and I cast a dryfly near a bank. It was sipped by a reasonable fish, which turned out to be a fallfish!

A wild Rainbow

I spent a short time fishing a small stream a little while ago, and among all of the scrappy salmon par I managed to discover a holdover rainbow. I also caught a fair amount of brown trout.
