My home lake has been weirdly off this year, or at least the carp have been. The fish just aren't showing in the normal spots at the normal times. I get one, maybe two shots at tailing fish on the main lake a morning, but I keep going for some reason. It's like I saw a sign that said 'Free Kicks to the Nards' and said, "oh yeah, sign me up". I just keep going back, even though morning after morning it's just a tedious, futile, and often painful exercise.
This morning was a slight improvement, I got a few more shots than I have been. But this time the nard kicking was slightly worse, I got an eat from a really big common, one of those 35+ pound giants I only see a few times a year, and it just screamed off. Some way or another it popped off, I'm not even sure exactly when, but I retrieved what I though was my fly covered in a huge mess of weeds and debris. Turns out my fly wasn't even in there, it was broke clean off and the junk was just wrapped around my leader. Ouch.

I'm definitely a glutton for punishment, because I'll probably be back for my morning beating tomorrow... oh the joys of fly carping.
Celiac fishes are definitely punished with glten.
ReplyDeleteHa! Glad you caught that, I didn't even notice until way after I saw your comment!
DeleteYep, that's what we do, hoping that tomorrow morning will be better. Can't hold a good fisherman down. Who Knows, you may even get your fly back.
ReplyDeleteTie, fish, write and photo on...
Not all of us do this, there are a lot of fisherman out there that know when NOT to go. Clearly I'm not one of them.
