There were lots and lots of peanut bunker around and I new there were fish feeding on them. It is deep water so it is only infrequently that these fish show themselves. There were a few boils and pops and bait fish sprays today, which is a very good sign. I was startled when my Deceiver got smoked, but not surprised. More like releived. For the first few minutes of the fight I was sure I had a big bass on. But then it jumped and revealed itself to be a big bluefish, which was a bit of a surprise and mildly disappointing. I can't complain though, it's the biggest blue I've ever caught. And unfortunately I had to leave after catching it. I'm just thankful to have finally caught a good fish in this spot.
Remember everyone, today is a day we must mourn those lost, and honor those first responders who risked it all, many of whom are still battling illness they would not have gotten had it not been for the actions of a few evil people 15 years ago today. God bless America.
Nice blue fish on the fly rod, RM. That must've been fun bringing that one in. Well done. Regards, Sam

I didn't miss the striper, it missed the fly! They do that way too often.
